MEWShop’s Next Six Week Intensive Editing Workshop Begins March 10th
New York, NY – February 5, 2025 – Manhattan Edit Workshop (MEWShop) is excited to announce that renowned editor Mark Hartzell, ACE, will join as the first-ever Artist in Residence for the upcoming March 6-Week Art of Editing Intensive. Hartzell, celebrated for his work on iconic projects like “True Blood,” “Lost in Space,” “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters,” and “Dune: Prophecy,” brings decades of experience to the classroom.
Before transitioning to an editor, Hartzell honed his craft as an assistant editor, developing a deep technical and creative understanding of the editing process. This unique blend of hands-on experience and industry expertise makes Hartzell an invaluable mentor for aspiring editors.
Students will have the opportunity to learn from one of the industry’s leading professionals, gaining insight into both the art and the technical precision behind editing for film and television.
Hartzell’s residency promises to provide a rare and impactful learning experience for all participants in MEWShop's flagship intensive program.
Mark Hartzell, ACE, got his first big break in Hollywood when he was selected for the ACE Internship Program. As an Assistant Editor, he worked on the pilot for James Cameron’s “Dark Angel” and the pilot for the long running “Smallville.” He assisted on all three seasons of the series “Deadwood,” the miniseries “The Pacific,” and the feature “Life Support” all for HBO. His next big break was getting the bump to editor on “True Blood” for HBO.
Since then, he has edited many shows including “Animal Kingdom” for TNT, “Marvel’s Agent Carter” now on Disney+, “NOS4A2” for AMC, and all three amazing seasons of “Lost in Space” for Netflix. His most recent shows were the BFE-nominated “The Last of Us” for HBO, “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters” for Apple TV+, and “Dune: Prophecy” for HBO.
He is working on season 2 of “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters” and can’t wait for you to see it.
