Manhattan Edit Workshop to offer sessions on the art and technology of creative editing
Content and Communications World (CCW) 2012 is just around the corner and Manhattan Edit Workshop is looking forward to presenting free workshops to all conference attendees! At the intersection of creativity and technology, these workshops will help all attendees learn in-depth the technology and techniques behind the art they create.
Sessions will be lead by major players in the editing, creative, and post-production industries, including Evan Schechtman (Outpost Digital), Nathan Rausch (Pilot NYC), Terry Brown (Mega Playground), Amy Leland (editor, "Inside the Actor's Studio"), Josh Apter (Manhattan Edit Workshop), and Jem Schofield (theC47).

Digital Cinema - Past, Present and Future

This session will look at the rapid evolution of digital cinema cameras & digital acquisition. It will also discuss it's impact on productions today and into the future. The session will go over various camera systems & workflows, latitude and dynamic range, small versus large sensor acquisition and discuss best practices when planning a project that will be captured digitally. Included in the session will be various digital cameras for live demos and a Q & A section to help attendees determine what's right for their project.

Streaming video is quickly becoming the de-facto standard for social media communication and quickly delivering your message. We'll take a detailed look at what goes into making eye-catching video podcasts as well as a number tips and tricks on how you can use the many on-line tools at our fingertips as a new avenue for branding and content distribution on the Internet.

About the Instructors
Amy Leland is a director and editor. She is an editor for "Inside the Actors Studio" on Bravo TV, which is currently entering its 19th season. She also directs a web series and documentaries. Amy is an Apple Certified Master Trainer in Final Cut Pro 7/X, Motion, and Color, and is an Autodesk Authorized Trainer in Smoke for Mac. She is the owner of Summer Woman Productions, which provides videography, editing, and motion graphics services to a wide range of clients, which have included 1800Flowers, Fresh Direct, and Scripps Networks. Amy is a member of New York Women in Film ant Television and the Playwrights and Directors Workshop at The Actors Studio.
With an extensive background in broadcast engineering, Terry Brown is now the CTO of Mega Playground, a motion picture and television post production facility in New York City. He has conceived and implemented a new service offering called "DP Dailies," which combines color science, a dailies systems technology from Digital Film Technology, and financial benefits to yield a postproduction workflow that is truly unique. Terry was recently invited into the American Society of Cinematographers as an associate member.
Evan Schechtman is an expert in desktop technology and in 1998 founded Outpost Digital, which fast became known for its innovative use of next generation media technologies. In 2000, Outpost was acquired by bicoastal/international radical.media and Evan became radical's Chief Technology Officer, while still heading up Outpost Digital's New York office, as well as their new facility in Santa Monica. Outpost has done extensive work in broadcast, film and commercials, working with such networks as ABC, CBS, MTV, VH1, ESPN and The Food Network, agencies like Ogilvy & Mather, BBH and Weiden+Kennedy, as well as Steven Soderbergh, Gus Van Sant and Danny DeVito.
Nathan Rausch is the Systems Administrator/Post Supervisor at Pilot NYC. He has a strong background in sound design & music composition, specializing in systems integration, workflow consultation and product demos. Nathan has 14 years of experience consulting and supporting media workgroups at major television networks, post-houses, production companies and major ad agencies all over New York, New Jersey, Florida and Mexico.
Josh Apter has served as editor on over eight feature films including The Holy Land (winner Slamdance 2002/Cavu Pictures Distributor), Kaaterskill Falls and Barbecue is a Noun (Audience Award for best Documentary at the Rome International Film Festival and the River Run Film Festival). As a filmmaker, Josh is always producing, shooting and editing projects of all shapes and sizes. He recently completed principal photography on Out of Many, a documentary that follows five people as they travel across the country to the inauguration of Barack Obama.
Jem Schofield, producer and educator, is the founder and director of The Filmmaker's Intensive and the founder of theC47. Jem's company, Buttons Productions, produces projects and provides training for clients that include Apple, Inc., CNN, The New York Times, Manfrotto, Abel Cine and Canon U.S.A. Jem is an Apple Mentor Trainer and co-author of the Apple Pro Training Series book entitled Motion 4 Quick-Reference Guide. He is also the co-author of the Apple Pro Training Series book entitled Motion Graphics and Effects in Final Cut Studio 2. For more about Jem and his whereabouts visit theC47.com.
