Manhattan Edit Workshop Revamps Facility With New Roles in Organization

New York, New York – July 26, 2012 – Manhattan Edit Workshop (MEWShop), the cutting-edge authorized digital training destination for post-production and content creators, is happy to announce new roles and an evolving leadership within the organization.  Jason Banke, MEWShop’s General Manager, will now be taking over as Vice President of Operations; Janet Dalton, who’s been teaching at MEWShop for over eight years, will be the new Director of Education. Together, they will work towards expanding MEWShop’s course offerings to include the latest in editing and visual effects software as well as improve overall operations.

My relationship with MEWShop began five years ago when I took the Six Week Intensive course.  The class laid the foundation for my future success and continues to benefit the work I do to this day,” says Banke, who also owns and operates JB Visual Media.  “Shortly after my class ended, I was asked to become a teaching assistant for the class, and I immediately wanted to become a part of MEWShop’s mission to instruct aspiring filmmakers like myself.  Two years as a TA and three years as the General Manager of MEW later, I’m moving into the role as Vice President of Operations. I couldn’t be happier to have this opportunity to take MEWShop to the next level.”

During Banke’s role as General Manager, Manhattan Edit Workshop doubled the amount of classes it offers as well as became an Authorized Adobe, Autodesk and Assimilate training center.  In his new role as Vice President of Operations, Banke will oversee all MEWShopp operations, including instructors, employees, courses offered, marketing, events and facility management.

In her new role as Director of Education, Janet Dalton will collaborate with Banke to expand MEWShop’s course offerings to include the latest in editing and visual effects software.

I’ve been with MEWShop for over eight years now, and it’s been a real joy working with my peers who are not only extremely talented, but also extremely passionate about sharing their knowledge with others,” Dalton says of working at Manhattan Edit Workshop. “I'm very excited to expand my role here. MEW offers such a unique blend of highly technical and purely creative classes, which I believe is crucial to learning post-production. As Director of Education, I look forward to working with the MEW team to not only continue providing the successful programs we already have, but to also develop new and exciting ones.”

Currently, Dalton is developing a visual effects plug-in component to courses and expanding the scope of their Art of the Documentary course. Dalton will also help create online tutorials showcasing the latest tips and tricks for picture and sound editing. She will continue to operate as MEWShop’s Senior Trainer.

Manhattan Edit Workshop has grown exponentially since it first opened almost ten yeas ago, and so much of that progress was made because of Janet and Jason,” said Josh Apter, Founder and President, MEWShop. “Both have proven to be huge assets to the MEWShop Team. I have every confidence that Jason and Janet are up to the challenge of their new roles and, together, will take MEWShop to the next level in post-production training."
