New York, New York – July 24, 2013 – Manhattan Edit Workshop (MEWShop), the cutting-edge authorized digital training destination for post-production and content creators, now provides certified training in Autodesk Smoke 2013. The latest version of the high-end editing suite, which was unofficially launched in early 2012, is now one of the most popular post-production tools on the market to offer both editing and effects capabilities. Interested students can learn the basics of the program in Smoke 101 and more advanced compositing in Smoke 201. MEWshop is also offering bundle pricing for students interested in attending both workshops.
Smoke 101: An Introduction to Smoke
This three-day hands-on course introduces key interface components, media management, editing essentials, color correction, basic animation techniques, keying and compositing. The goal of this course is to enable editors and compositors to quickly learn the essential skills needed to use Smoke in the post-production industry as well as understand the concepts that will allow them to expand their skills while using Smoke in their daily work. Among other topics, students will learn how to:
- Navigate the user interface
- Import and organize media
- Perform basic editing on the timeline
- Apply and edit timeline effects

- Composite multi-layer scenes

Smoke 201: Advanced Compositing
Complementing the Smoke 101 course, this two-day hands-on course focuses on advance compositing and visual effects. Students will learn keying, color correction and tracking techniques to achieve complex composites with professional results. Students will create 3D scenes that take full advantage of Smoke’s powerful 3D compositing environment and 3D tools. Among other topics, students will learn how to:
- Composite a 3D scene
- Achieve complex keying
- Color correction techniques
- Tracking techniques
- Import 3D objects and scene
- Create and modify 3D text
