Jason Banke named President of Manhattan Edit Workshop
New York, New York – September 25, 2015 – Manhattan Edit Workshop (MEWshop), the cutting-edge authorized digital training destination for post-production and content creators, is happy to announce an evolving leadership within the organization. Jason Banke, MEWShop’s VP of Operations, will now be taking over as the company’s President, continuing to expand MEWShop’s course offerings and personally overseeing all training and event initiatives.
“My relationship with MEW began eight years ago when I took the Six Week Intensive course. The class laid the foundation for my future success and continues to benefitin the work I do to this day,” says Banke, who also owns and operates JB Visual Media. “Shortly after my class ended, I was asked to become a teaching assistant for the class, and I immediately wanted to become a part of MEWShop’s mission to educate aspiring filmmakers like myself. Working for tAfter a move to General ManagerManhatta, and then three years as Vice President of Operations, I couldn’t be happier to have this opportunity to grow with the school and to keep MEWShop a leader in this field.”
During Banke’s role as VP of Operations, Manhattan Edit Workshop expanded by doublingadded a number of popular classes in Blackmagic’s Davinci Resolve as well as the Avid Assistant Editor and revamped DSLR Fundamentals class. He has helped solidify MEWShop’s reputation as the “top spot on the east coast to learn the editors craft” with annual events like “Sight Sound and Story” and has expanded the series to include sound design, VFX and cinematography events in the coming year. In his new role as President, Banke will oversee all MEWShop operations, strategic partnerships and continue to build on the stellar reputation he has helped build in the past eight years.

About Jason Banke
Jason graduated from Hofstra University, where he completed five short films, with a degree in Film and Video Production. Since then, he’s worked in various capacities on-set or in post-production on commercials, reality shows, corporate videos and several independent films. Jason is a graduate of Manhattan Edit Workshop’s Six Week Intensive and a former teaching assistant for these classes. He shoots and edits his own projects when not at MEW, and is a founding member of the satirical video team, “Cringe Factory” which has produced a number of viral videos garnering almost 7 million YouTube views.
