In addition to the Artist in Residence program, Mewshop's Six Week Intensive also features a regular flow of Guest Lecturers - filmmakers, post-facility owners, Editors Guild reps, directors, producers - who speak with our students either on field trips or in the classroom. These guests all add to the real-world education we provide by adding insight, advice from their own professional and personal experiences.

Bill Platt is an award-winning director, writer and producer of film, television, short-form content and on-air promotions. Bill earned an M.F.A. in film from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, where he wrote & directed the short narrative, Bleach, which received the Student Academy Award and premiered at the Sundance Film Festival.
Bill received the Directors Guild of America Student Filmmaker Award, which included mentoring under the tutelage of Martin Scorsese on the set of Bringing Out The Dead and with Wes Craven on Music of the Heart.
After NBC-Universal's Sci-Fi Channel hired Bill to help launch its weekly series, Exposure, Bill created and launched Exposure Studios, a production unit established to support emerging filmmakers. As Supervising Producer, Bill oversaw five short High Definition pilots, featuring actors Fred Savage, Blair Brown and Dylan Baker.
Bill made his feature-film debut by directing and co-writing Sci-Fi Channel's original movie, Darklight, starring Roswell's Shiri Appleby, Desperate Housewives' Richard Burgi and Stargate Atlantis' David Hewlett.
